Kacentric Optics raises €1.2M for photonics test tech

News

Seed funding backed by private investors and Bpifrance will accelerate the development of next-generation photonics test and measurement equipment ahead of a planned 2027 launch.

Kacentric Optics has secured €1.2 million in seed funding to support the development of next-generation test and measurement equipment for the photonics industry.

The round comprises two-thirds equity from private investors and one-third debt financing via an innovation R&D loan from Bpifrance.

The company is focused on improving performance and usability in photonics testing, an increasingly critical area as the sector scales across applications such as photonic integrated circuits (PICs), spectroscopy, and quantum technologies.

“Our objective is to raise the level of performance and usability in photonics test and measurement,” said Michiel van der Keur, founder and CEO of Kacentric Optics. “This milestone allows us to accelerate development and begin engaging more broadly with the industry.”

As photonics technologies mature, robust testing capabilities are becoming essential to ensure reliability and scalability in real-world deployments.

Kacentric aims to address this need with tools designed to support both R&D environments and emerging industrial applications.

Following the funding, the company plans to expand its engineering team, deepen its R&D efforts, and prepare for its first product introduction, scheduled for mid-2027.
