PhotonDelta launches challenge to advance photonic-enabled systems
PhotonDelta is calling on the photonics community to rethink how photonic-enabled systems are designed and applied, launching an engineering challenge that spans communication and computing, imaging, wireless, and sensing.
As photonic integrated circuits (PICs) move beyond individual components, the focus is shifting toward system-level engineering that fully exploits their energy efficiency, high-speed data transmission, and miniaturisation capabilities.
In communications, PICs enable photon-based data transfer with reduced power consumption, addressing the growing bandwidth and sustainability demands of AI and data centres.
In imaging, photonics can shrink bulky optical systems while improving performance and scalability, while wireless and sensing applications stand to gain from high-speed, low-latency, and highly sensitive PIC-based solutions.
The challenge invites startups, universities, corporations, and research institutions to develop deployable applications that harness the full potential of photonic technologies in real-world scenarios.
