Nanoscribe opens Quantum X demo lab in Shanghai

News

Nanoscribe has strengthened its presence in China with the opening of a Quantum X demo lab in Shanghai, marking a strategic milestone in the company’s long-term commitment to the region’s rapidly growing photonics and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Speaking remotely from the company’s headquarters in Germany, CEO and Co-founder Martin Hermatschweiler highlighted China’s role as a global innovation and engineering hub, particularly in photonics, optics and industrial translation of scientific research.

He said the Shanghai facility goes beyond a local footprint, enabling customers to accelerate development cycles and bridge the gap between academic proof of concept and industrial-scale production.

The new demo lab showcases Nanoscribe’s Quantum X align system, powered by proprietary technologies designed to address key challenges in high-precision microfabrication.

Two-Photon Grayscale Lithography (2GL®) enables continuous voxel modulation within a single scan, delivering sub-micron resolution alongside a 10–60× increase in throughput compared to conventional two-photon lithography.

Aligned 2-Photon Lithography (A2PL®) allows highly accurate 3D printing directly onto photonic chips, wafers and optical fibers, with lateral alignment accuracy down to 100 nm, supporting scalable photonic packaging and reduced coupling losses.

The opening event brought together industry and academic experts for technical sessions covering photonic chip coupling, mechanical metamaterials, X-ray optics and AI-assisted 3D micro-printing.

A live demonstration of the Quantum X align highlighted its ability to produce complex structures with optical-grade surface roughness and tight shape tolerances, underscoring its readiness for applications in optical communications, AI infrastructure and medical devices.

Now fully operational, the Shanghai Quantum X demo lab offers hands-on demonstrations, feasibility studies, application development support and tailored training, providing a collaborative platform for evaluating next-generation 3D microfabrication technologies and reinforcing Nanoscribe’s role as a key technology partner in China.
