Phlux’s 1550 nm sensors gain interest in optics market
Phlux Technology has reported growing interest in its 1550 nm infrared sensor technology from manufacturers of premium hunting, long-range shooting, and professional optics systems.
The company’s patented Noiseless InGaAs® avalanche photodiodes (APDs), already used in defence, telecoms, and industrial applications, are now being evaluated for advanced laser rangefinders, ballistic scopes, and low-light targeting equipment.
Designed to detect extremely weak return signals at eye-safe 1550 nm wavelengths, Phlux’s APDs offer significantly higher sensitivity than conventional near-infrared detectors.
This enables longer ranging distances, improved reliability on low-reflectivity targets, and more consistent performance in challenging conditions such as fog, drizzle, and low contrast environments.
Phlux has developed application-specific detector variants and is working with 1550 nm laser partners to support optics manufacturers in system-level integration and product development.
