VIAVI advances 1.6T testing

VIAVI will showcase its data-centre test portfolio for 1.6T optical technologies, silicon photonics and co-packaged optics at ECOC 2026, as AI infrastructure drives demand for higher-speed and denser optical interconnects.

VIAVI Solutions will demonstrate its latest testing and measurement technologies at ECOC 2026 in Málaga, Spain, covering applications from high-speed Ethernet and AI fabric validation to silicon photonics, co-packaged optics (CPO) and optical connectivity.

The company will highlight its testing portfolio for 1.6T technologies, which are being deployed across scale-up, scale-out and scale-across data-centre architectures. VIAVI said the industry is already planning for 3.2T systems as AI workloads continue to increase network capacity requirements.

Its ONE LabPro ONE-1600 platform will be demonstrated for testing pluggable 1.6T transceivers, while the TestCenter D2 will be used for Layer 2 and Layer 3 testing of AI workloads at 1.6T.

For silicon photonics and CPO manufacturing, VIAVI will showcase additions to its MAP-300 platform, including a Remote Head Polarity Mapper, High-Density Variable Optical Attenuator and high-density optical power measurement modules.

The company will also demonstrate technologies for quantum key distribution and hybrid network evaluation, reflecting the increasing complexity of testing optical networks that combine different technologies.

Optical connectivity will form another part of the demonstration. VIAVI will present connector end-face geometry testing technologies obtained through its acquisition of the Direct Optical Research Company (DORC) product line, alongside its existing interferometry, inspection and cleaning portfolio.

For deployment and monitoring, VIAVI will introduce its MAP-2800 test head, designed for centralised and field testing of Ethernet applications from 10Mbit/s to 800Gbit/s. The company will also demonstrate the DCX-700 for automated certification and validation of high-fibre-count networks.

VIAVI will further highlight testing solutions for hollow-core fibre, including characterisation and monitoring technologies aimed at supporting lower-latency optical infrastructure.

The demonstrations will take place at ECOC 2026, held from 21–23 September at the FYCMA exhibition centre in Málaga, Spain.
