Soitec raises photonics-SOI outlook

News

Soitec has upgraded its revenue guidance as AI data-centre demand drives stronger-than-expected growth in its Photonics-SOI business.

French semiconductor materials company Soitec expects Photonics-SOI revenue to reach around three times last year’s level in its second fiscal quarter, which ends in September.

The company now forecasts $250–300 million in Photonics-SOI revenue for fiscal 2027, up from slightly more than $100 million in fiscal 2026.

The upgraded outlook reflects accelerating demand from customers, particularly as AI infrastructure drives deployment of optical connectivity in data centres.

Soitec said it is also signing multiyear agreements with Photonics-SOI customers and expects agreements with eight of its approximately ten major customers in the coming weeks.

Photonics-SOI substrates provide a silicon-on-insulator platform for integrating photonic components, supporting the development of optical technologies used in high-bandwidth data-centre networks.

The company also raised its broader second-quarter revenue growth guidance to around 50% year-on-year, compared with its previous expectation of more than 30%.
