Micas expands CPO manufacturing
Micas Networks is expanding its company-operated manufacturing operations in Malaysia to support the production of co-packaged optics platforms for AI networking.
Micas Networks is expanding its company-operated manufacturing operations in Malaysia to strengthen the clean-room, optical integration, assembly and testing capabilities required for commercial co-packaged optics (CPO) systems.
The company said the expansion will increase its ability to move advanced optical networking platforms from design and validation into production, with capabilities spanning advanced system assembly, optical integration, automated testing and thermal validation.
Micas operates its own manufacturing facility in Malaysia, allowing it to maintain direct control over quality, new-product introduction, supply chain management and system delivery.
The expansion supports the company's M2-W6940-128X1-FR4 CPO Ethernet switch, based on Broadcom's Tomahawk 5 Bailly platform. The 51.2 Tbps switch integrates optical engines with the switch ASIC and provides 128 ports of 400G FR4 connectivity.
Micas said the platform has entered volume production and is available through Supermicro as part of validated AI infrastructure configurations.
In a tested configuration pairing AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs with AMD Pensando Pollara 400 AI NICs, Micas reported approximately 38.28 percent lower switch power consumption compared with the tested pluggable-optics configuration.
The company also reported lower latency and more than four million cumulative 400G-equivalent port-hours of link-flap-free operation in ongoing testing.
Micas said its expanded manufacturing capabilities are intended to support increasing demand for high-bandwidth and power-efficient optical networking as AI infrastructure scales.
The development highlights the growing focus on manufacturing, optical integration and automated testing as CPO moves from development and demonstration towards volume deployment in AI networking systems.
