PIC Summit targets photonics scale-up
More than 800 industry leaders are gathering in Eindhoven as integrated photonics moves towards industrial-scale production and deployment in AI, data and next-generation computing.
PIC Summit Europe 2026 has opened in Eindhoven, bringing together more than 800 participants from across the global photonics and semiconductor ecosystem on 3-4 November.
Now in its fifth year, the event is focusing on the transition of photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technology from development towards industrialisation and commercial deployment.
This year's theme, Scaling integrated photonics for global impact, covers applications spanning AI and data infrastructure, quantum computing, sensing, healthcare, agrifood and automotive.
The programme will examine key barriers to scaling PICs, including packaging, testing, yield, standardisation, supply-chain readiness and customer adoption.
Speakers include senior figures from ASML, NXP, STMicroelectronics, Soitec, SMART Photonics, HyperLight, NTT and the European Commission.
The event will also host product and technology announcements, including Bright Photonics' Nazca Cloud Platform and PIC-enabled life-science deployments from Delta Life Science.
PhotonDelta CEO Eelko Brinkhoff said the industry is undergoing a “decisive shift” from technological promise towards industrialisation, commercial deployment and real-world adoption.
The summit has grown from around 300 attendees in 2022 to more than 800 in 2026, reflecting increasing commercial interest in integrated photonics and its role in next-generation computing and communications.
