Alcyon Photonics launches IP library for Tower SiPh platform

News

Alcyon Photonics has introduced a fabrication-ready photonic IP library for Tower Semiconductor customers, enabling faster and more predictable development of scalable PICs.

Madrid-based Alcyon Photonics has released its first fabrication-qualified photonic intellectual property (IP) library for customers of Tower Semiconductor, aimed at accelerating scalable PIC development.

The library provides validated photonic building blocks aligned with Tower Semiconductor’s silicon photonics process design kit (PDK), enabling designers to move more efficiently from development to volume manufacturing.

Targeting datacom and telecom applications, the initial release supports O-band and C+L-band devices and includes components such as Mach–Zehnder interferometers, multiplexers, polarisation splitter-rotators, and CWDM4 architectures.

Designed for seamless integration into established electronic design automation workflows, the IP library improves design predictability, yield performance, and repeatability, key challenges in commercial PIC deployment.

Supported within the Luceda Photonics environment, the platform allows customers to focus on system-level innovation while relying on manufacturable, foundry-qualified photonic components, with additional EDA integrations planned for future releases.

The announcement strengthens Tower Semiconductor’s growing silicon photonics ecosystem by expanding access to production-ready photonic design infrastructure for high-volume applications.
