CoolSem Technologies secures €700k from PhotonDelta to advance photonic chip cooling
CoolSem Technologies has received a €700k loan from PhotonDelta to accelerate development of its advanced thermal management solutions for high-performance photonic and semiconductor chips.
Based in Eindhoven, CoolSem develops the WaLTIS platform, a patented high-conductivity multi-layer substrate that efficiently transfers heat, enabling more compact, reliable, and high-performing photonic devices. The technology is designed to extend the lifetime and efficiency of next-generation photonic and semiconductor chips.
PhotonDelta, a leading growth accelerator for the photonic chip industry, supports start-ups that strengthen the Dutch and European photonics ecosystem. Fund Manager Qurein Biewenga said, “Thermal management is becoming a decisive factor for scaling photonic and semiconductor chips. CoolSem’s innovations directly address this challenge and strengthen the ecosystem’s technological foundation.”
CoolSem CEO André van Geelen added, “Support from PhotonDelta is a strong signal of confidence in our vision and technology. It enables us to accelerate development and expand our impact across semiconductor, photonics, and high-performance computing markets.”
The investment underscores the growing importance of thermal management solutions as a key enabler for reliable and scalable photonic integration.
