VPIphotonics upgrades VPIlinkConfigurator

News

The company says its latest release supports equipment configuration and detailed performance calculation of complex networks

VPIphotonics has announced the release of VPIlinkConfigurator Version 4.5, which it describes as a versatile software tool for optical network engineering including automatic equipment placement and configuration and a thorough system-wide performance assessment. The company says the new release supports equipment configuration and detailed performance calculation of complex networks including ROADMs and true ring topologies, while a powerful API enables interfacing with third-party software such as common office applications and databases in addition to custom applications.

According to VPIphotonics, Version 4.5 improves the network design workflow and provides new functionality that supports unidirectional lightpaths, and Free Space Optical (FSO) channels. The enhancements of Version 4.5 aim to simplify the handling of resource-demanding tasks such as large-scale network designs that utilise flexgrid and multi-band DWDM transmission technologies. A new built-in functionality accelerates the design process and supports for the interoperability with VPItransmissionMaker for more detailed analysis of quality of DWDM transmission line, the company adds.
