PhotonDelta announces Eelko Brinkhoff to take over as CEO

News

PhotonDelta, a photonics industry accelerator based in the Netherlands, has announced that Eelko Brinkhoff will join as CEO from 19 February 2024. Brinkhoff currently works at Brabant Development Agency, as managing director of foreign investments and international trade. With this appointment, PhotonDelta seeks to further grow as a leading international ecosystem for integrated photonics.

The organisation notes Brinkhoff’s experience in the field of foreign direct investment and internationalisation of small and medium enterprises, as well as his network in business, government, knowledge institutes, and universities, in the Netherlands and abroad. Brinkhoff has also been involved in the growth of several foreign tech companies setting up in the Netherlands.

Laurens Weers, CFO at PhotonDelta, said: “Eelko’s experiences in both business and government combined with deeptech environment that the Brabant Development Agency is known for, makes him a great fit for the job. Our industry has some exciting times of international growth ahead and Eelko joins us at the right time.”

Eelko Brinkhoff commented: “I’m looking forward to join the great team at PhotonDelta that has a key role to play in making the integrated photonics ecosystem indispensable for the goals and challenges that we face today. Photonic chips will become critical in various applications such as quantum computing, robotics, sustainable agriculture and autonomous driving. PhotonDelta as a Dutch world-leading ecosystem will be a driving force to make this happen.”

René Penning de Vries, chair of PhotonDelta’s supervisory board, added: “PhotonDelta has seen a period of rapid growth. Next to maturing the organisation, the challenge is to become an internationally recognised accelerator for the photonic chip industry. On behalf of the supervisory board, I wish Eelko all the best to lead PhotonDelta in this ambition.”
