EPIC announces 2 new board members

News

During the Annual General Meeting on 15 April, EPIC – European Photonics Industry Consortium – announced its two new board members: Adam Piotrowski, CEO of VIGO System and President of the Polish Technological Platform on Photonics, and Berthold Schmidt, CEO at TRUMPF Photonic Components.

EPIC is proud that Adam Piotrowski and Berthold Schmidt are joining as new members to its Board of Directors. VIGO System a world leader in the design and manufacture of products for photonics and TRUMPF is market and technology leader in machine tools and lasers for industrial manufacturing. Carlos Lee, Director General at EPIC is pleased: “It is a privilege to have these experts join the Board of Directors and to have their expertise and knowledge of the industry onboard to benefit our members”.

For EPIC is it important that its Board of Directors is a representation of the diversity of its members. Both in fields of business as well as geographically. The EPIC Board of Directors composition as of April 2021: Adam Piotrowski, CEO of VIGO System (Poland), Basil Garabet, President & CEO of NKT Photonics (Denmark), Benno Oderkerk (The Netherlands), Berthold Schmidt, CEO of TRUMPF Photonic Components (Germany), Christian Bosshard, Vice President and Head of the CSEM Center in Muttenz (Switzerland), Jan Meise, CEO of AMS Technologies (Germany), and Samuel Bucourt, CEO of Imagine Optic (France).

EPIC strongly believes in the importance of a powerful board of directors. All board members are CEO level or equivalent. Their mission is to support the EPIC mission to ensure the competitiveness of the European industry and to drive the strategy of the association and serve the interest of its members. With a board of only seven people, there is a lot of room for individual input. The board members are appointed for a 3-years term renewable once, meaning that every year there is a replacement which ensures that new ideas and opinions keep being injected into the organization to be implemented by the staff.
