NTT Expands Global IP Network in Manchester

News

NTT Communications Corporation has announced a new point of presence (PoP) in Manchester, UK at the Equinix MA4 Manchester IBX data center; the move will expand NTT's Tier-1 Global IP Network. The data center is located Manchester's Science Park.

The Equinix MA4 data center facilitates direct interconnection to IX Manchester and the London internet exchange, LINX, along with an array of cloud and network service providers, the company explained. NTT says that this expansion will enable the company to continue scaling its offerings to internet service providers, content, cloud, CDN, and hosting providers in Manchester. NTT customers at MA4 will have connectivity to the company's network of more than 140 global data centers in over 20 countries and regions. NTT says it will offer 100G ports and various other capacity levels, with physical path diversity for reliability and quality of services.

Several of Europe's top digital media producers, broadcasters, enterprises, and financial services organizations are based in Manchester, making the MA4 data center a strategic location for companies serving the UK and Europe with interconnections to Asia, the US and other major world data traffic centers.
