Coriant Appoints Vikram Shanbhag

New managing director for Asia Pacific South will help to drive Coriant committment to India's growing telecom market

Coriant, a supplier of packet optical, IP, and SDN solutions, has appointed of Vikram V. Shanbhag as managing director for Asia Pacific South.

In this position, he will oversee operations, business development, sales and channel strategy, and customer support operations in the region, including India. Based in Coriant's Gurgaon, India offices, Shanbhag will report directly to Coriant's Chief Customer Officer Homayoun Razavi.

Shanbhag's appointment comes on the heels of Coriant's agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, India's largest telecom provider, which enables the two entities to jointly fast track the development of 5G and IoT technology infrastructure for India's growing base of connected citizens.

With more than 27 years of experience in telecom and technology, Shanbhag brings a noteworthy track record in senior global leadership roles with demonstrated success in building and growing operations and business development throughout India, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas.

His achievements include leading sales growth by 150 percent for Mahindra Comviva, a global leader in mobile solutions offering digital VAS, mobile finance and customer management solutions for telecom operators, where he also directed the company's largest business unit and consistently generated record sales and profitability.

For Covansys, a consulting and technology services company offering application development and maintenance outsourcing and integration services, he successfully developed and led a telecom R&D, product customisation and professional services business across three continents and generated revenue with over 40 percent profitability.
